Meals on Wheels, Bluffton-Hilton Head’s Announces the 2024 Board of Directors
Hilton Head Island, SC, February 20, 2024 - Meals on Wheels, Bluffton-Hilton Head announces the 2024 Board of Directors recruited to prepare for the anticipated growth in the clients served on Hilton Head Island, Bluffton and Sun City.
“We have made a concerted effort to bring a wide range of diverse talents to our board representing our local community,” said Joe Scalzo, chair of the Board of Directors.
The new board members include Linda Harrell of Bluffton, Constance Martin-Witter, Bluffton Community Soup Kitchen executive director, Venita Barnette of Hilton Head Island, and Chick Simonds of Hilton Head Island.
Serving for another year is Joe Scalzo of Bluffton as the chairperson, Narvel Weese of Bluffton as co-chairperson, Holly Golden of Hilton Head Island as treasurer, and James Daniel of Hilton Head Island as secretary. Also serving again is board member Neal Fitzpatrick of Hilton Head Island.
Community members interested in fundraising, social marketing, fighting loneliness, and supporting pets in clients’ homes are invited to join one of the agency’s committees to further the Meals on Wheels’ mission.

Meals on Wheels, Bluffton-Hilton Head, is a local nonprofit 501-C3 agency that enhances the lives of homebound individuals and seniors in our community by providing nutritious meals, personal interaction, and independence. Meal on Wheels, Bluffton Hilton Head wholly depends upon contributions from local charities, foundations and agencies, service organizations, corporate sponsors, churches, and individuals. Nutritious hot meals are delivered Monday through Friday, and one frozen meal for Saturdays by over 220 dedicated volunteers. The need continues to grow, and in 2023, over 47,700 meals were served compared to 18,463 in 2019, before the COVID outbreak.
