A Critical Gift at a Critical Time: Thank you The Church Mouse Thrift Store

Want to shop for some rare finds, great clothing and gently used furniture, visit the Church Mouse Thrift Store located on Arrow Road on Hilton Head Island. Every dollar spent helps fund local nonprofits.

Meals on Wheels, Bluffton-Hilton Head is thrilled to learn they will receive a grant in July that will help supplement the $30,000 monthly cost to provide meals to our senior neighbors who are unable to prepare their own meals.

“These grants are so very important to our mission,” said Lili Coleman, executive director. “This grant comes during a critical time of the year when individual donations are flat. Plus, we anticipated providing 48,000 meals this year and we are now trending to over 60,000 meals.”

“Like many Meals on Wheels organizations across the country, the local program is facing challenges that include rising costs, funding cuts, and reduced individual donations,” said Coleman. “In the upcoming months, choices will have to be made to determine if the agency will tap into reserves to cover increased costs or add seniors to a waitlist.”
